WHAT IS A CHAT 2 CAMERA?

A C2C is a broadcast quality video with yourself talking about you! It is more or less an audiovisual resume presented by YOU talking about your training and experience within the Film and TV industry.

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Firstly, during casting one of the biggest issues Casting Directors find is that there are so many actors nowadays and limited audition time, so its hard for them to see everyone and not knowing what someone is like in person will sometimes restrict them to whom they see and stick to people they are familiar with. When time constraints aren’t so heavy (which is less often) they are then able to delve into new faces.

Secondly, we cant all be everywhere when we want…sometime life intervenes with work, uni, kids and the unexpected. When this happens you could potentially miss out on a major audition for a 100% TVC or a role in a Feature Film. This allows the Casting Director/Direct/Producer see you as they would in an audition scene without the material but can see what sort of person you are. That may be enough for them to grant you the opportunity to come in at a later date.

Lastly, similarly to the above; if you re a serious actor rolls for lead and support roles interstate/overseas may present themselves when your agent submits you. Sometimes (though rarely) you may be able to self-test. Other times the C2C may be enough to have the CD feel confident in you and invite you test interstate or put up a self-test.

More and more often are casting directors using this great tool to cast roles for all sorts of projects. In 2011 Ben Parkinson Casting cast and made the decision to bring in new faces for Major Feature Films and TV Commercial roles worth between $1000 and $6000 dollars.

WHO USES THEM?

Casting Directors: To see before hand the potential of unknown performers.

Agents: To persuade casting directors to see you even though you may have a limited resume but are an amazing performer.

You: Some great short films and independent films are being made these days and the competition is heavy…this gives you the competitive edge to have that something extra when going into “battle”.

Producers: Sometimes, with TVC’s the producer may try to get you over the line with their client by showing them that you are a fresh face or worth seeing but are away at the moment.

WHAT YOU GET?

- An emailed guide on how to write you script and what the content should entail.

- 40 min rehearsal with casting associate Josh Taylor.

- 20 minutes of recording time including direction.

- Fully edited finished product made available to you and your agent within 3 working days.

HOW MUCH?

Normally this service cost starts anywhere from $250 and up and that is only conducted by a camera operator that gives limited direction.
